Ziauddin University is seeking applicants for the College of Media Sciences for the role of SENIOR LECTURER – MEDIA SCIENCE

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and deliver engaging, innovative, and research-informed lectures, seminars, and workshops in media sciences, covering topics such as digital media, film making, journalism, advertising, or related areas
Design and update course content, ensuring alignment with industry trends and academic standards
Evaluate and grade students’ performance through assignments, projects, and exams.
Provide guidance and mentorship to students for academic and extracurricular projects, including capstones, research papers, and media productions
Act as an academic advisor, supporting students in their academic progression and career planning
Conduct original research in media sciences, publish findings in reputable journals, and present at conferences
Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary research initiatives within and beyond the department
Seek funding opportunities for research and manage research grants where applicable
Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum reviews, and institutional committees
Assist in organizing departmental events, workshops, and guest lectures to enhance student learning experiences

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES

Education: Ph.D. or Master’s degree (with substantial industry experience) in Media Sciences, Communication, Film Studies, Journalism, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of teaching and/or professional experience in media-related domains. Prior experience in student mentorship and research is preferred

COMPETENCIES

Expertise in media production tools and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, etc.)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to inspire and engage students in both theoretical and practical aspects of media sciences
Research and publication record in media sciences or related fields
Organizational and time-management skills for balancing teaching, research, and student consultation
Familiarity with emerging trends in digital media, AI in media, and interactive storytelling
Experience in curriculum development and programme accreditation processes
