Position Vacant: Vice Chancellor – PIDE

The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), established in 1957, is an autonomous research organization attached to the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives. PIDE focuses on theoretical and empirical research in development economics, especially Pakistan-related economic issues, aiming to provide evidence-based policymaking insights.

PIDE runs Ph.D. and M.Phil programs in Economics, Public Policy, and Development Studies. PIDE is looking for a competent Vice Chancellor, who will also serve as an ex-officio Member (Research), Planning Commission of Pakistan. The candidate will be expected to provide strategic direction, administrative leadership, and vision to make PIDE a globally renowned research think tank and educational institute. The position is governed by the PIDE Act, 2010, and Planning Commission guidelines.

The Candidate Should Be:

A Pakistani National.
PhD in Economics from an HEC-recognized National/International University.
Have quality research publications in HEC-recognized National/International research journals.
Possess at least 15 years of technical/academic experience, including 07 years of post-doctoral experience in senior/management leadership in a reputed organization.
Demonstrate outstanding and inspiring leadership qualities with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
Hold awards in the field of Economics (preferred but not mandatory).

General Provisions:

The appointment will be on a contractual basis for 5 years as per the PIDE Act, 2010.
The age limit is a maximum of 65 years on the closing date of application submission.
