OPERATION THEATRE TECHNICIAN

LOCATION: DR. ZIAUDDIN HOSPITAL, CLIFTON CAMPUS

JOB SUMMARY:

The Operation Theatre (OT) Technician is responsible for assisting surgical teams by preparing, organizing, and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment. They ensure the operating theatre is clean, sterile, and fully equipped for each procedure, handle the setup of instruments, and support surgeons and nurses during operations while adhering to strict safety and sterilization protocols.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the OT team in managing and coordinating surgical instruments and implant-related processes.
Prepare and arrange the operating theatre to ensure all instruments, equipment, and materials are available and in working order.
Clean, sterilize, and store surgical tools and implants following hospital guidelines.
Assist with setting up surgical instruments and equipment before procedures.
Verify and organize the correct instrument trays and sets for each surgery.
Uphold high standards of hygiene, sterilization, and safety within the OT.
Monitor and maintain inventory of surgical instruments, implants, and supplies.
Notify the OT supervisor of any equipment issues, damages, or supply shortages.

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:

Thorough understanding of surgical instruments and their proper handling.
Knowledge of implant systems and their use in surgical procedures.
Familiarity with operating theatre setup and sterile techniques.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Intermediate + Sindh Medical Faculty diploma / Bachelor’s in OT
Experience: 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
Shift: Rotational.
