Position Title: Assistant Manager Taxation

Location: Karachi

Reports to: Head of Tax

Job Description:

Responsible for direct and indirect tax matters under the supervision of Head of Tax. Key tax areas of responsibility include Tax Risk Management, Tax Litigation & Controversy, Business Partnering, Tax Reporting & Compliances, and Financial Central Cost Recoveries (FCCR) etc.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Business partnering on tax matters. Identification and assessment of tax planning opportunities, advising the relevant stake holders, and ensuring their implementation.
Working with local treasury and FCCR central team on FCCR agreements. Review of changes in foreign exchange regulations and related tax requirements and ensuring their compliance. Ensuring validity of FCCR agreements and exception approval for non-standard rates.
Ensuring tax payments on FCCR and Dividends are made on timely basis, as per respective double tax treaties and local laws. Also keeping a track of sales tax paid under reverse change mechanism for their adjustability.
Computation of quarterly advance tax liability, applying for exemption certificates and refunds, and ensuring timely advance tax payments.
Handling of Ekaterra pre-SMF and SMF period tax issues and litigations.
Determining implications of OECD guidelines including pillar II.
Continuous Monitoring of effective tax rate – actual vs forecasted.
Assessment of Tax Risk and Uncertain Tax Provision (UTP) as per UTP global policy.
Handling of Tax audits and inquiries with respect to Transfer Pricing issues etc, preparing and providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules.
Coordination with EY for preparation of local files in accordance with Transfer Pricing rules.
Responsible for local and global tax reporting in accordance with IFRS and group guidelines.
Coordinating with external and internal auditors.
Monitoring the compliance with direct and indirect tax control framework and ensure preparation and filing of sales tax and income returns.

Qualification and Experience Required:

Qualified Chartered Accountant.
Post qualification experience of 4 + years.
Experience across corporate tax, indirect tax, and transfer pricing.
Strong knowledge of federal and provincial tax laws.
Hands on Experience on SAP and MS office.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and financial management concepts. Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements.
Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for accuracy. Ability to maintain detailed financial records, reconcile accounts, and identify errors or discrepancies.
Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Strong work ethic and ability to work well under pressure. Apply

Position Title: AM Legal

Function: Legal

Job Purpose:

As part of the legal team, the AM will be responsible for a wide range of internal & external KPIs. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with various departments, and engagements broadly revolve around regulatory compliance, engaging with external legal counsel, and corporate law practice.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide legal support & advice on ad hoc legal matters across Unilever functions as part of the legal team.
Review of marketing material and marketing campaigns.
Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, government departments).
Drafting an array of legal documents & curating responses to legal notices received from regulatory bodies.
Monitor the implementation of corporate laws and ensure compliance with legal & ethical standards.
Stay up to date with changes to legislation and landmark court judgements that directly affect the business.
Assist in streamlining processes and procedures pertaining to key risk areas.
Manage and mitigate legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:

LLB with at least 3 to 4 years of experience in a law firm or as an in-house counsel
Top-notch research & presentation skills on legal propositions
Excellent time management skills with proven ability to collaborate with clients, lawyers, and relevant departments within Unilever
Ability to meet deadlines and deal with matters of utmost confidentiality
