About the role
Mughal Steel is looking for an experienced, hands-on Head of Maintenance — Heavy Machinery to lead maintenance and fleet reliability for our heavy mobile assets at the Lahore plant. This role is focused on heavy cranes, mobile lifters/boom trucks, excavators, bulldozers, heavy trailers/trucks, trolleys and other mobile/haulage equipment used for material handling and site operations.
Key Responsibilities
Own maintenance strategy, planning and execution for all heavy mobile & haulage assets (cranes, mobile lifters, excavators, dozers, haul trucks, trailers, trolleys, forklifts where applicable).
Develop and operate a robust Preventive & Predictive Maintenance program to maximize availability and minimize reactive downtime.
Lead fleet inspection, statutory and pre-use checks, load-testing programs and periodic inspections for lifting equipment and trailers; ensure documented inspection records.
Plan and execute major mobile-equipment overhauls, breakdown restorations and mobilize contractors for heavy repairs/borescope/hydraulic pump replacements.
Manage spare parts strategy for mobile fleets and control inventory to balance availability vs carrying cost.
Drive training/upskilling for technicians and operators
Candidate profile / minimum qualifications
Degree or diploma in Mechanical / Automotive / Diesel / Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
12+ years’ heavy mobile equipment experience (cranes, excavators, dozers, heavy trucks/trailers) with 5+ years in supervisory/leadership role — fleet or plant maintenance background preferred.
Strong hands-on knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, hoist systems, rigging and telematics/engine diagnostics.
Experience running heavy-equipment overhauls, managing repair teams and managing external workshops/contractors.
Strong leader with excellent planning, vendor negotiation, cost control and stakeholder management skills.
