SITUATION VACANT: The Engineering Development Board (EDB) is mandated to strengthen the manufacturing sector in Pakistan through technical support and policy action. Applications are invited for the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will be expected to lead the EDB in identifying emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges in the local and global industrial landscape, and to support the Government of Pakistan in formulating industrial policies and sector-specific actions.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Citizenship: All applicants must be citizens of Pakistan with a valid CNIC.
Age: Minimum 45 years as of the last date of receipt of the application.
Qualifications:
(a) A Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, mechatronics, industrial, chemical, or other relevant engineering disciplines from an HEC-recognized university or reputable foreign university.
(b) A Master’s or PhD degree in the above engineering disciplines or in industrial economics, industrial management, industrial policy, business administration, or any other relevant discipline is preferred.
Experience:
(a) For Master’s degree holders:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or economic development.
- At least 5 years in a senior executive or leadership role in a reputable national or international organization.
  (b) For PhD degree holders:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or economic development.
- At least 5 years in a senior executive or leadership role in a reputable national or international organization.
Required Skill Set:
(a) Strong understanding of global industrial trends and economic development strategies.
(b) Familiarity with industrial strategies, development programs, investment incentives, and climate change issues in Pakistan.
(c) Good leadership and team-building skills.
(d) Excellent communication skills, including fluency in Urdu and English.

Responsibilities

(a) Provide strategic leadership to the EDB, including development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan aligned with the organization’s mission, goals, and objectives.
(b) Engage stakeholders for policies and initiatives to enhance the industrialization process.
(c) Oversee the development of technical standards, regulations, and procedures.
(d) Lead efforts to attract investment in the industrial sector and promote advanced technologies.
(e) Support the Government of Pakistan in formulating industrial policies, strategies, and sector-specific actions.
(f) Oversee day-to-day operations of the EDB, including budgeting, financial, and HR management.
(g) Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within the EDB, while building international partnerships.

Tenure: Initial appointment on a contract basis for 3 years, extendable by another 2 years on an annual basis.

For foreign degrees, equivalency certification from HEC must be provided.
