Role Summary/Purpose	GMP – Field Engineer is a 1 year program for graduate students or young professionals that offers a core curriculum that fosters the development of technical and leadership skills critical to success in all GE Power businesses. The program prepares candidates for a successful field technical career by providing the opportunity to learn about our products, industry, and customers while simultaneously making valuable contributions to the organization.
Essential Responsibilities	GMP accelerates development of entry-level talent and produces leaders capable of meeting the challenges facing the various businesses and functions at GE. The program gives new recruits the opportunity to work on critical projects and roles that contribute directly to improvement of business performance and delivery of growth. The program allows candidates to build leadership and functional skills through challenging assignments and on the job training working with Local & International Teams. Typical projects include working on the field on GE Power Services customer sites. Upon successful graduation from the program, candidates will provide onsite technical direction on mechanical works of Gas / Steam Turbine Generators, inspection, repair and installation, commissioning and maintenance on customer owned power generation and industrial facilities. GMPs in the control domain will provide insite technical direction on control systems, loop checks and system tests during startup, commissioning and maintenance on customer owned power generation and industrial facilities. Upon completion of GMP program the primary responsibilities of Field Engineers will be to : – Provide customers with high quality, value added service worldwide, front-line business of GE Power. – Provide technical direction and/or project management of installation, commissioning and maintenance of gas turbine, steam turbine generator products. – Support the business growth requirement by driving customer satisfactory. – Six sigma / quality initiative. – Utilize problem solving skills, engineering instructions, drawings, and process instructions for Steam/Gas turbine commissioning and start-up. – Provide input for Daily Outage and Weekly Installation Reports. – Communicate effectively with Service Managers and Site Leaders on job planning and execution and with Resource Directors regarding site arrivals, departures and job progression – Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites – Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards – Possess technical capacity to troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance checkout for a wide range of equipment/GE system vintages – Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages
Qualifications/Requirements	Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical and Electrical / I&C Engineering disciplines. Minimum 3.0 GPA or equivalent – Fluent in English and the language of Country where you wish to work (written and oral).• Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision • Customer service mindset • Strong organizational and project management skills (prior experience preferred) • Exceptional oral and written communication skills • Solid interpersonal and leadership skills • Willingness and ability to travel significantly with no geographical restrictions • Must have ability to perform night work as required to meet business needs • Must have a valid driver’s license or ability to obtain oneSuccessful candidates will be employed under local employment conditions.
