We’re Hiring! Assistant Manager Legal – Banking Sector | ICBC Ltd Pakistan Operations

Key Responsibilities:

Business Partnership:
• Draft and review all ICBC agreements, including financial agreements, security documents, SBLCs, guarantees, and NOCs.
• Provide expert legal opinions on matters involving FBR, FIA, Police, ANF, and other law enforcement agencies.
• Develop and standardize documentation to support smooth banking operations.
• Represent ICBC in legal proceedings before authorities like Customs, FIA, NAB, Banking Mohtasib, and other regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with external legal counsels and panel lawyers to ensure comprehensive legal coverage.
• Handle ad hoc legal projects assigned by the Head of Internal Control & Compliance.

Correspondence & Representation with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs):
• Liaise effectively with FIA, NAB, FMU, Customs, Courts, and external legal advisors.
• Ensure accurate and timely responses to all inquiries, safeguarding the bank’s reputation and minimizing liabilities.

What We’re Looking For:
• Minimum 5 years of legal advisory and documentation experience in a Bank or Law Firm serving the banking industry.
• In-depth knowledge of AML laws, rules, and regulations.
• Strong understanding of Banking Laws, Prudential Regulations, and compliance reporting requirements.
• Graduate Degree in Law (LLB); Bar License is a plus.
• Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to provide sound legal advice while balancing risk and operational needs.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to oversee the bank’s taxation affairs, ensure the timely preparation and dissemination of financial statements, and maintain compliance with statutory regulations. This role is pivotal in upholding ICBC’s commitment to excellence and integrity in financial management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare quarterly, half-yearly, and annual financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements.
• Policy Development: Design and implement policies and procedures for the financial and accounting functions, aligning with local regulations and Head Office directives.
• Audit Coordination: Liaise with external auditors for account finalization and coordinate with regulatory bodies during audits conducted by the central bank.
• Tax Compliance: Ensure adherence to Income Tax and Sales Tax laws of Pakistan, including timely and accurate filing of returns with federal and provincial tax authorities.
• Issue Resolution: Address notices from tax authorities, coordinating with legal counsel and tax consultants, and manage tax audits and withholding tax assessments.
• Committee Participation: Engage in various financial committees, providing insights and support as needed.
