WE’RE HIRING | DEPUTY MANAGER MECHANICAL
Mughal Steel is seeking an experienced mechanical maintenance professional to strengthen equipment availability, lead maintenance teams and deliver safe, reliable operations in a demanding steel manufacturing environment.
THE ROLE
- Lead preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance for assigned steel plant equipment, coordinating closely with Production, Electrical and Utilities teams.
- Troubleshoot rolling mill equipment, including stands, gearboxes, bearings, couplings, spindles, roller tables, shears, cooling beds and material handling systems.
- Ensure reliable operation of hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and cooling-water systems, pumps and associated mechanical equipment.
- Plan and execute shutdowns, major overhauls and equipment modifications with clear manpower, spares, contractor and restart-readiness plans.
- Investigate recurring failures through root cause analysis; implement corrective actions that reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Strengthen critical spares planning, maintenance records and cost control; track equipment availability, MTBF, MTTR and maintenance schedule compliance.
- Develop engineers, supervisors and technicians while enforcing permit-to-work, lockout/tagout and safe lifting practices.
WHAT YOU BRING
- BE/BSc Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- At least 8 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience, including 2–3 years leading teams in steel manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in steel rolling mills; additional exposure to steel melt shops, continuous casting machines and overhead cranes will be an advantage.
- Strong practical knowledge of precision alignment, bearing and gearbox maintenance, vibration monitoring, hydraulic troubleshooting and engineering drawings.
- Experience with maintenance planning systems/CMMS, shutdown management and coordination with OEMs and vendors.
- Demonstrated improvements in equipment reliability, downtime reduction or maintenance cost.
- Readiness to support plant shutdowns and urgent breakdown requirements.
