We’re Hiring | Database & Legacy Systems Migration Engineer
Express News is looking for an experienced Database & Legacy Systems Migration Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our team.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in:
- SQL Server migration, administration & performance optimization
- Legacy application and VB6 migration
- .NET / C# and modern application platforms
- Database architecture, schema design & data integrity
- Migration planning, validation & rollback strategies
- AI-assisted coding, automation & testing tools

KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Strong experience with SQL Server database migration, administration, and performance optimization
- Hands-on experience upgrading SQL Server 2008 to modern versions such as 2019+
- Proven experience migrating VB6 / legacy applications to .NET or other modern platforms
- Strong knowledge of database architecture, schema design, relationships, indexing, stored procedures, and data integrity
- Experience with migration planning, data validation, rollback strategies, and version control
- Familiarity with C# / .NET, APIs, ETL, or CI/CD is a plus
AI & AUTOMATION SKILLS
- Experience using GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar AI coding tools
- Ability to use AI for legacy code analysis, code conversion, SQL optimization, testing, and validation
- Experience with Python or PowerShell automation
- Understanding of AI-assisted QA, regression testing, and technical prompt engineering is a plus
