Atlanta Metropolitan State College, a University System of Georgia institution, is accepting applications for a Part-Time Secretary in the Office of Student Affairs. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia granted the institution approval to award the baccalaureate degree in May of 2011 and approved a name change to Atlanta Metropolitan State College in May of
2012. Atlanta Metropolitan State College currently serves 3,000 commuting students at its downtown site at 34 Peachtree Street and on its beautifully landscaped campus which is located 10 minutes south of downtown Atlanta and 15 minutes north of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
This position is 29 hours per week.
This is a part time non-exempt position in the Office of Student Affairs which reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs. Responsibilities include, answering phone calls, taking messages, or transferring calls to appropriate office personnel; Preparing and managing correspondence, reports and documents; arranging conferences, meetings, and travel reservations for office personnel; implementing and maintaining office systems; maintaining schedules and calendars; arranging conferences, meetings, and travel reservations for office personnel; organizing internal and external events; handling incoming mail and sending mail to designated personnel or customers; setting up and maintaining filing systems; setting up work procedures; collecting information maintain databases; communicating verbally and in writing to answer inquiries and provide information; operating office equipment such as printers, copiers, fax machine etc.
A high school diploma is required with three years of administrative and supervisory experience. This individual must be proficient in a variety of software applications including, Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, Power Point and other software packages. This individual must also be detail-oriented, possess strong interpersonal skills and work well with diverse groups of people and able to maintain confidentiality.
Associate’s degree preferred.
