Advanced university degree in Media Studies, Development Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or related discipline.
10 Years(Professional experience in a media relations and communications role within an organization. Previous INGO, UN /FAO and/or humanitarian agency experience in a communications role is highly desirable)
Under the direct supervisor of the FAO Representative and in close collaboration and coordination with all Project Managers/Project Heads, the Communication Officer shall be responsible for the below tasks:
Manage overall communications and media strategy with a long-term vision and strategy for FAO Pakistan and further develop and implement communication strategies, media plans and projects, either stand-alone or/and part of larger programmes.
Identifies and communicates relevant information for a variety of audiences for advocating FAO’s mandate and programmes.
Be responsible for shaping and delivering work, which has a significant impact on FAO’s public image – at national and international level.
Make media & communications related decisions (in collaboration of program and operation staff) and solve problems on emerging and complex issues, requiring high levels of creative thinking to find best solutions.
Required to operate within tight deadlines, including travel in all parts of the country using independent/consultative judgement with clear parameters
Provide communication and visibility support and advice to managers in responsibility areas
Ensure visibility of FAO at the highest levels, towards policymakers, donors, and media.

Ability to link communication strategies with social, electronic and print media campaigns to operational programme activities through various communication/mass media products like video documentaries, newspaper supplements, online and social media promotional activities.

Qualification & skills required
Excellent knowledge of Photography and filming skills.
Strong conceptual and analytical skills and ability to think and operate innovatively and strategically.
Sound understanding of the major economic, agriculture development and food security issues in Pakistan.
High level interpersonal and PR skills
Excellent information gathering and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be able to express ideas and concepts clearly and concisely in written and oral form.
Fluent written and spoke English and proficiency in Urdu and familiarity of local languages.
Innovative and creative approach to problem solving.
Willingness to travel extensively, mostly within the country.
